“PE kit is just the biggest barrier to kids being active in schools and for some kids, that’s the only opportunity they actually get to be active. So, if they’re avoiding being active because of kit, then that's just surely something that can be easily rectified.”

- Head of PE for Lakelands Academy, a secondary school in rural Shropshire

Helping you deliver choice, comfort and inclusion in kit

We support club staff members to deliver inclusive PE kit policies that enable more enjoyment and participation.

01
Sports kit should be comfortable, affordable, practical, inclusive and offer a range of choice. Sports kit policy should be designed to support this.
02
We have partnered with expert organisations to develop unique support for clubs to lift the barrier sports kit, and champion inclusion in activity.

Lead your club to Inclusive Sportswear Champion status

We have developed the Inclusive Sportswear Community Platform to support club staff and members to lead their club to Inclusive Sportswear Champion status.

What if we already have an inclusive kitpolicy in our club?
If you have already started your inclusive kit journey, we would encourage you join the Community Platform to:
- Complete the Review to ensure you are meeting the Club Champion standards.
- If you are happy with your club’s progress, we invite you to complete the Action Plan and Impact Evidence sections ‘retrospectively’ as appropriate.
- Submit your Champion Process and we will review for you.
How do we pledge to the Inclusive Sportswear Charter as a club?
- First, you need a club staff member to become an Inclusive Sportswear Advocate by taking the short training course
- Then one club staff member will become the Lead Advocate and be able to start the Club Champion process on the Community Platform.
- The first step of the Club Champion process is to Pledge to the Inclusive Sportswear Charter.
- The Lead Advocate must gain club leadership sign-off and then they are able to submit their pledge through the Pledge form on the Community Platform.
Why should webecome an Inclusive Sportswear Club Champion?
Inclusive kit can help more people stay active and develop positive life-long relationships with sport and activity.
- Join schools, clubs, brands and governing bodies in pledging to the Inclusive Sportswear Charter and joining the movement to ensure sports kit policy is never the reason someone drops out of sport.
- Over 70% of women have seen girls drop out of sport because of sports kit and body-image concerns.
- Evidence proves choice, item options and flexibility increase comfort in sports kit and the likelihood of enjoyment and long-term participation.
- Learn more in the Guidance section on our Community Platform!
Can we split up the ‘Club’ into our junior, women’s and men’s sections?
- Yes! You can specify which section of the Club is completing the Inclusive Sportswear Club Champion process.
- For example, your junior section could be more advanced than your senior section, so you could have different Lead Advocates for each section.
- Simply specify when completing the pledge and the process. E.g., ‘St George’s Netball Club – Junior Section’
How many club staff or members can become Inclusive Sportswear Advocates?
- There is no limit on Advocates, even everyone in your club can join the Community Platform and become an Advocate!
- However, there is a limit of one ‘Lead Advocate’ per club – this is the person who will be responsible for the Club Champion process.
What is the role of the ‘Lead Advocate’?
The ‘Lead Advocate’ is the only member of the club who can complete the online forms for the Club Champion process through the Community Platform.
- Lead Advocates submit the Charter Pledge form, the Review, the Action Plan and the Impact Evidence for the club.
- Lead Advocates must gain club leadership sign-off to Pledge the Club to the Charter, and are encouraged to involve as many staff, members and parents (if appropriate)in the Club Champion process
Can parents become Inclusive Sportswear Advocates?
- Yes! Parents can become Advocates, but they arenot able to become the Lead Advocate, unless they hold a role in the club. Typically this is the case in junior sections of clubs.
- We encourage parents to join the platform to understand all areas of why sports kit matters.
- We invite parents to become Advocates too and encourage them to become active in helping their club become an Inclusive Sportswear School Champion.
Can players become Inclusive Sportswear Advocates?
- Yes! Players can become Advocates, and they can become the Lead Advocate if they hold a role in the club.

- A four-step process on the Community Platform including Pledge, Review, Action Plan and Impact Evidence submission.
